DERFOR:

Webtheft/Direct Linkning vs Copyright Abroad web-theft is called "Direct linking" and/or "Bandwidth Theft" The problem has been known for a long time - and especially many good gif-pages have been forced to close one after another. Either they have been shut down by the Hostmaster´s, because they had too much traffic on theirpictures/gif-animations - or they close, because they don´t have the money to pay for this extended traffic on their page. It is very sad for all of us, if one gif-page after another have to close... Where else will you get pictures etc. for your own homepage etc? Usually it is allowed to take the pictures, but it must be done the right way! What is web-theft/ direct-linking/ bandwidth-theft of pictures? If you take a picture this way: Right-click on the picture, choose copy and place the picture directly on your own page - well, this is direct-linking / web-theft :o((( But if you take a picture this way: Right-click on the image, choose "save as" or "save image as" - and then save it on your own computer f.ex. in a folder made for this purpose - then you have done the correct thing. *S* Yes, it is as simple as that! By direct-linking are
you loading on another persons server/domain (which the owner/s pay a lot
of money for). Well, some people probably direct-link, because they don´t know - they actually don´t know, that what they are doing is wrong... But actually there are also many people, who simply doesn´t care about, that direct-linking is wrong!!! One thing is absolutely certain - direct-linking / web-copying / bandwidth theft is really a big thorn in the flesh on the internet!!! Copyright: As a totality
one must presume, that everything on the internet has copyright - whether
it concerns gif´s, pictures, globes or something else - because somebody
has made the pictures you take / use. But many places pictures etc. are
free (or can be picked up as tubes) and it is allowed to use them, if you
save them the right way! *S* There is also many pages, where it is strongly prohibited to just steal their graphics, pictures, globes or anything else - and that must absolutely be respected! That is why: Respect the
rules people have on their homepages. If
you still have doubts about, how to save a picture and why it is so awful
